Tea break
So, The Boy decided to be kind to his Mummy yesterday and slept for nearly two hours!! It was a crazy day as I wanted to tidy the house and we had a party to get to. But instead of tidying or cleaning or doing all the other never ending chores. I sat down.
Yep, you read right. I sat down. I sat down on our nice big plush couch with a magazine, the tv on (Grey's Anatomy re-runs of course) and enjoyed a hot cup of tea (so much nicer than the cold icy tea I am usually faced with during the day).
It did mean that The Boy ran out of clean pjs and was sporting a pair of 3-6 month track pants for most of the day (not a bad fit considering he is 13-months old!).
It was a purely selfish act on my behalf. I had a million other things to do (what Mum doesn't!?!), but some days life just gets too hard and it was either going to be a fall in a heap while banging your head on the floor moment or I could just enjoy the moment for what it was. Silence. No one clinging to me. No screeching. No nothing. Just me, the tv and my baby boy fast asleep.
So - what did you do for yourself today?

While you are sleeping
For the past week, The Boy has decided our day should begin at 5am. What I don't understand, is how he came from two people who love to sleep....but he doesn't seem too!
The Boy has always been a "precious" sleeper. So we won't discuss the way we get him in to the land of Zzzz everyday. Let me just tell you this, The Boy hasn't slept in his cot for 8 weeks. Enough said.
Today was a minor victory in this house though. Even after his 5am wake, I managed to get him back to sleep by 6am and then we slept until 8am - hooray!
We (well I) have decided that when Mr Sailor gets home, we will be moving the rooms around, so The Boy can sleep in the room closest to ours (even if it is teeny tiny).
Only I am slightly stumped about whether or not to bring the cot in or just let him sleep on the mattress on the floor like he has been doing (quite happily too). 13 months seems to young to have him out of a cot, but what's the point of trying if he will just scream blue murder until we take him out and put him on the mattress?
At least one thing I do know for sure....

5 minutes peace
Can any one else remember Mrs Large from 5 Minutes Peace??? Today I was Mrs Large! All I wanted was 5 MINUTES PEACE!
While Mr Sailor is away at sea and The Boy currently undertaking the role as my leg warmer, I rarely can snatch 5 minutes peace for myself through out the day (unless of course he is napping, and then I find myself doing housework bah humbug!).
All this Mummy wanted, was a shower in peace! Did that happen? Nope, of course not.
While I washed, conditioned and shaved as fast as I could muster on a cold winter morning, The Boy played with the toilet brush, licked the toilet lid and then jammed his fingers over and over in the bathroom drawers. Did I mention the half a roll of toilet paper he consumed? I'm sure that will be interesting when it makes it's way out!
So, how do you do it? Can you shower in peace? Enjoy a cuppa without a monkey on your leg? Tell me your secrets! How do I get just five minutes peace?
